Thailand's ministry of transportation is planning two new standard gauge lines " one from Nong Khai to Mab Ta Phut on the eastern seaboard, the other from Chiang Khong in Chiang Rai to Ban Phachi railway junction in Lopburi. The proposed routes replace the previously planned high-speed train project
