Senegal's Vision 2050: MITTA and AfDB Set to Align Funding Strategy to Boost Infrastructure and Mobility

A recent meeting between the Minister of Infrastructure, Land and Air Transport (MITTA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) mission focused on reviewing the current funding strategy to ensure alignment with the objectives of Senegal’s Vision 2050 framework.

Several directors and entities, including AGEROUTE, CETUD, SENTER, and CFS (Senegal Railways), participated in the meeting, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary and integrated approach to addressing infrastructure needs.

Subject to approval by the Head of Government, MITTA will advocate for the implementation of the various projects discussed. These include the development and construction of the multi-level "4-stack" Fair Interchange and the traffic regulation project in Dakar, as well as ongoing and planned initiatives, prioritised according to the Senegalese government's directives.

The discussions covered key sectors such as mobility, road infrastructure, railways, and regional airports. The primary goal is to determine how the AfDB, through its country strategy, can support Senegal in financing its priority projects while aligning initiatives with the government's Vision 2050 framework. This collaboration aims to strengthen essential infrastructure and enhance mobility while addressing sustainable development and regional integration challenges.
