Lusaka, Zambia – 25 March 2025 – Preparations for the 4th edition of the Land-Linked Zambia Conference are well underway, with this year’s event drawing strong regional and international interest. Taking place from 10–11 April 2025 at Ciêla Resort in Lusaka, the conference is being hosted under the theme “Embracing SMART Transport Corridors in Africa,” with Stanbic Bank Zambia confirmed as the headline sponsor.
At a press briefing held at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Mr. Chimwemwe Nyirenda, Managing Director of Africast Zambia, the event organisers, outlined the scope of this year’s conference. He confirmed that 21 countries are expected to attend, a notable increase from the eight that participated when the event was first launched.
Between 600 and 800 delegates are anticipated, including transport ministers from Zambia, Angola, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and Malawi. Delegations from major ports across both the East and West coasts of Africa, along with representatives from the mining, freight, logistics, aviation, and infrastructure finance sectors, will also be in attendance
Mr. Nyirenda acknowledged what he described as a significant endorsement of the event — the official announcement by Hon. Frank Tayali, MP, Minister of Transport and Logistics, that His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema will serve as Guest of Honour.
“We have seen steady growth not only in delegate numbers but also in the calibre of participants,” Mr. Nyirenda said. “From regional ports and major transporters to financiers and last-mile logistics operators, Land-Linked Zambia has become a truly intermodal event with international reach.”
This year’s edition further reflects Zambia’s strategic role in regional trade and infrastructure development. Among the organisations represented will be port authorities from Dar es Salaam, Nacala, Beira, Lobito, Walvis Bay, and Durban, as well as mining firms from Zambia and the DRC. Participation also includes regional transporters, freight forwarders, exporters, importers, airlines, and financial institutions — from those supporting last-mile courier operations to major infrastructure investments.
The conference also highlights the growing role of youth in logistics, particularly in the courier and delivery sector, a market valued at $1.34 billion in 2023 and projected to reach $2.78 billion by 2032.
The three-day program begins with a networking golf day and welcome cocktail on 9 April, sponsored by Cornelder – Port of Beira. The main conference sessions, exhibitions, and B2B and G2B meetings will run on 10–11 April. A technical site visit to the Chirundu One-Stop Border Post on 12 April will offer delegates direct engagement with customs and regulatory officials to address ongoing trade bottlenecks.
Mr. Nyirenda acknowledged the strong support received from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics and noted the continued alignment of the event with Zambia’s broader development agenda. “Through six major corridors, Zambia and the DRC are not only shaping how critical minerals are mined but also how they are responsibly transported to international markets,” he said.
With registration up by 30% and exhibition space fully booked, Land-Linked Zambia 2025 is expected to be the most impactful edition to date.
