PIDA Week 2024 will be held from 25-29 November at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, with a focus on advancing Africa’s infrastructure through strategic financing and regional integration. Organised by the African Union Commission, AUDA-NEPAD, and Ethiopia under the patronage of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, this year’s event will be themed “Fostering Resilient and Inclusive Infrastructure for Africa’s Sustainable Growth.”
Key discussions will cover energy, transport, ICT, and transboundary water, exploring challenges and solutions for sustainable and inclusive infrastructure. Sub-themes will address multilateral cooperation, financing needs, digital infrastructure, and green economy pathways.
Since its inception, PIDA has made significant progress, expanding electricity access to 30 million people, increasing ICT broadband penetration to over 25%, and modernising or constructing thousands of kilometres of new road and rail links, resulting in the creation of over 160,000 jobs. With 69 regional infrastructure projects requiring $16.1 billion annually, PIDA Week aims to secure financing and align infrastructure development with continental priorities.
