NGE Secure Its First Railway Contract in Morocco for Office National des Chemins de Fer

NGE Group has secured its first railway contract in Morocco with an ambitious project: Lot 3 of the railway line extension between Kenitra and Marrakech, along with the development of Casablanca hubs, in connection with the future High-Speed Rail (HSR) Line. This contract strengthens NGE's presence in mobility infrastructure within rapidly growing economies across the Middle East and North Africa region.

This large-scale railway project, led by the ONCF, involves overhauling the existing conventional railway infrastructure to make way for the new HSR line, while also increasing capacity on the existing lines.

Jean Bernadet, President of NGE, welcomes this strategic signing: “Supporting Morocco in the development of infrastructure that serves the country's economic growth is a true source of pride for NGE. Contributing to this large-scale project, led by the ONCF, aimed at increasing railway capacity, aligns with the purpose of our actions: our strategic ambition is to build structures that address the challenges of ecological transition, particularly by developing low-carbon mobility infrastructure. Our teams, recognised for their expertise, are fully committed alongside the ONCF to ensuring the success of this project and making it one of our many references in Morocco."

The scope of work for the NGE consortium (comprising TSO, TSO Caténaires, and NGE Maroc) includes studies, the removal and installation of railway tracks (ballast and concrete), track components, supply and installation of catenary systems, as well as earthworks, platform construction, drainage, roadworks, and civil engineering.

Lot 3 extends from the business district of Oasis in Casablanca to the city of Nouaceur and will serve five stations, including those in Nouaceur city and Mohammed V Airport, both offering interconnections with the future HSR line.

This conventional line, dedicated to passenger transport and part of the master plan to increase capacity between Kenitra and Marrakech, helps strengthen the territorial network for low-carbon mobility in the region, perfectly complementing the future HSR line.

A strengthened local presence through a diversification strategy

This railway contract marks an important milestone in the diversification of NGE's activities in Morocco. Present in Morocco since 1990, the Group established its first multi-expertise presence outside of France. Initially focused on road infrastructure, NGE Maroc gradually expanded its offering in public works (earthworks, civil engineering, water cycle, etc.) to become a key player in construction, with iconic projects such as the viaduct at the Tangier MED port, the wastewater treatment plants in Marrakech and Fquih Ben Saleh, and the Wave 2 desalination plant at Jorf Lasfar. After acquiring Avanzit Technologies Maroc in 2023 in the telecommunications sector and Sade in March 2024 to strengthen its expertise in the water cycle, NGE is now a leading player in the country’s infrastructure sector, supporting both private and public clients in the ecological transition.
