The Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) is currently experiencing service disruptions between Park and Rosebank Stations in Johannesburg, following an incident on Saturday, 15 February 2025. According to a statement issued by GMA, an internal investigation revealed that unauthorised drilling activity on private property above the tunnel led to the ingress of water and soil, affecting Gautrain’s ability to operate between these two stations. This activity does not appear to comply with the requirements of the Gauteng Transport Infrastructure Act (GTIA).

Parts of the rail network run below ground in tunnels, while the rest of the network operates above ground.

To mitigate passenger inconvenience, Gautrain has expanded its bus services, operating at 15-minute intervals between Park and Rosebank Stations from 05h30 to 20h30 as a contingency measure.

Train services between these stations remain suspended as GMA continues to address the impact.
