FRENCH INCREASING RAIL FREIGHT

The French government has announced a 7 billion ($US11.8 billion) plan to increase rail's share of France's freight transport from the current 14% to 25% by 2022. A network of "rail highways" for trains carrying road trucks is envisaged. The cost of the project is to be covered by the French state,
