Egypt’s Seven Integrated Logistics Corridors

As part of Egypt’s 2030 sustainable development plan and directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the country is advancing its transformation into a regional hub for transportation, logistics, and transit trade. A key component of this initiative is the development of seven integrated logistics corridors designed to connect industrial, agricultural, and mining production areas with seaports on both the Red Sea and the Mediterranean. These corridors will enhance the transportation network via rail and road, including diesel and high-speed electric trains, supporting new urban communities and strategic dry ports.

The key logistics corridors include:

  1. Sokhna – Alexandria Corridor: Connecting Sokhna Port on the Red Sea to Alexandria Port on the Mediterranean, via industrial zones and major urban centres including Cairo and 6th of October City.
  2. Arish – Taba Corridor: Linking Arish Port on the Mediterranean to Taba on the Gulf of Aqaba, serving heavy industry zones in central Sinai and new logistics areas in the Sinai Peninsula.
  3. Cairo – Alexandria Corridor: Stretching from the Upper Egypt Railway Station in Bashtil to Alexandria, integrating key dry ports and industrial hubs.
  4. Tanta – Mansoura – Damietta Corridor: Serving agricultural and industrial areas in the Delta and connecting them to Damietta Port via an established railway line.
  5. Gargoub – Salloum Corridor: Extending from Gargoub Seaport to Salloum Land Port, facilitating trade between Egypt and Libya with a dedicated railway line.
  6. Cairo – Aswan – Abu Simbel Corridor: Incorporating high-speed electric rail and road networks to support logistics zones, dry ports, and agricultural areas in Upper Egypt.
  7. Safaga – Qena – Abu Tartour Corridor: Connecting Safaga Port on the Red Sea to Abu Tartour, with key logistics zones and railway links supporting the high-speed electric train network.

These corridors aim to boost regional trade, improve logistics efficiency, and drive economic growth, positioning Egypt as a central player in the regional transportation and logistics sector.
