In September this year, the new T3 and T4 lines of the Casablanca tramway in Morocco were put into service.

Since 2017, Egis has supported Casa Transports in this major project by ensuring the complete project management of lines 3 (14 km) and 4 (12.5 km). These lines have 20 and 19 passenger stations, respectively, and each is powered by 19 electrical substations. The fleet consists of 40 trams of approximately 70 m in length, each able to accommodate 600 passengers.

After the launch, the 24 trams will run at a frequency of 10 minutes from one end of the 2 lines to the other, from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The service eventually proposed will have a frequency of approximately 5 minutes when the 40 ordered trams have all been received and put into service.

These two new tram lines will alleviate the traffic congestion and make it easier to get around for Casablanca residents and tourists visiting the city. The expected ridership is around 170,000 trips per day for each of these lines by 2030, making this transport system an important vector of mobility in this constantly developing agglomeration.

In the El Hantate district, RATP Dev Casablanca participated in constructing the largest centre of excellence for the operation and maintenance of tram and Bus Rapid Transit lines, which stretches over an area of 6.5 hectares. That centre will host the teams managing the tram and BRT lines, as well as the Casablanca regulation and control operations. It has eight tracks dedicated to maintaining the trams and three lanes dedicated to maintaining the buses. It can host and store a total of 48 64-metre-long trams and 25 21-metre-long buses.
