On 10 March 2025, SDD1 diesel locomotives, independently developed by CRRC Ziyang, were shipped to Mozambique.

This signifies CRRC Ziyang's successful re-entry into the African market. The SDD1 diesel locomotive is a customised product by CRRC Ziyang designed specifically for African operational environments.

To meet the unique operating conditions of the African market, the company's technical team implemented numerous technological innovations and adaptive enhancements, such as lightweight optimisation design, an efficient cooling system, a new corrugated louvre structure, and a modular air intake unit. Additionally, the locomotive features an intelligent control system that enables real-time monitoring and precise control of its operational status, significantly enhancing its reliability and safety.

This batch of SDD1 diesel locomotives will be deployed for passenger and freight shunting operations in Mozambique, offering crucial support for local railway transportation.

CRRC Ziyang has been serving the African market for 24 years, delivering over 230 locomotives of various types and DMUs to nearly 20 African countries, including Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Gabon.
