CAMRAIL Receives 10 Turbochargers From Sitarail for Repair

CAMRAIL, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics and a key player in rail and multimodal transport in Central Africa, is pleased to announce the reception of 10 turbochargers from Sitarail for advanced maintenance and repair.

The work will be carried out within CAMRAIL’s Technical Business Unit (TBU) — a specialised entity created to deliver maintenance solutions for a wide range of rolling stock, including locomotives, freight and passenger cars, track inspection vehicles, and other mechanical equipment. The turbocharger repairs are expected to be completed within a maximum timeframe of six months.

These turbochargers, which are essential to the optimal performance of Sitarail’s locomotives, will benefit from high-level technical expertise to ensure reliability and longevity. The maintenance work will be performed by a dedicated team of about ten professionals, including mechanics and turbo specialists from CAMRAIL, subcontracting partners, and the Cameroon-based subsidiary of Draaijer, a Dutch company certified in this field.

“We are honoured by Sitarail’s trust in CAMRAIL for this strategic maintenance operation, which will be executed within the very first railway maintenance unit of its kind in Central Africa. The repair of these turbochargers at our Technical Business Unit (TBU) confirms the unit’s operational status and represents a pivotal milestone in ensuring continuity and quality in railway transport services. We are confident in our ability to deliver this assignment within the committed deadlines,” declared Joel Hounsinou, Managing Director of CAMRAIL.

This “repair and return” operation, conducted at CAMRAIL’s central workshops in Bassa, Douala, demonstrates the company’s unwavering commitment to providing top-tier maintenance services, ensuring the performance and reliability of rail assets across the region.

The Technical Business Unit (TBU) stands out for its key strengths: highly qualified personnel, a maintenance approach aligned with manufacturer standards and quality norms, robust cost control mechanisms, and state-of-the-art workshop facilities. Situated on a 35-hectare site connected to the Port of Douala by rail, the unit is also supported by a network of partners for spare parts supply and technical assistance when required.
