At the invitation of Camrail, a subsidiary of Africa Global Logistics, around twenty Chadian business operators in Cameroon met on Tuesday, 18 March 2025, at the company’s Bessengue station headquarters in Douala. This meeting, attended by these Economic Operators and the Camrail team led by CEO Mr Joel Hounsinou, aimed to review the current situation and agree on ways to improve the quality of freight transportation services along the Douala–N’Djamena corridor.
In his opening remarks, Mr Hounsinou emphasised the significance and context of the gathering before giving the floor to the Chadian delegation, whose main concern was the timely delivery of their cargo to Ngaoundéré.
“Despite a challenging start to the year marked by a few incidents, we will continue to serve you—along with all our customers—with the same dedication and passion. Camrail, which remains committed to enhancing its operational resources, will receive new locomotives in the third quarter of this year, 2025, enabling us to increase our hauling capacity,” declared Mr Joel Hounsinou, CEO of Camrail.
In the immediate term, the CEO announced the deployment of additional handling equipment to improve loading and offloading activities at the Bessengue facility. A series of measures, including expediting the transfer of containers, was also adopted. Furthermore, Camrail plans to acquire 100 new freight wagons as part of its 2025–2029 five-year plan. This investment aligns with the larger infrastructure modernisation initiative (PQ2) covering the Douala–Yaoundé and Belabo–Ngaoundéré segments.
“We leave this meeting feeling reassured, as Camrail has provided us with solid guarantees. We also appreciate the company’s swift commitment to expanding its locomotive fleet. The creation of a joint commission to monitor the implementation of the resolutions taken during this meeting is a commendable initiative. It clearly reflects Camrail’s attentiveness to its clients,” stated Mr Adoum Mahamat, President of the Chadian Business Operators in Cameroon.
For nearly three decades, Camrail has played a pivotal role in rail transport by enabling, through mass transportation, the movement of freight and passengers between Douala and Ngaoundéré, as well as to Chad and the Central African Republic.
Beyond transport services, Camrail also provides its industrial and distribution clients with warehouses located throughout its network, serving primarily as buffer storage spaces or cargo transfer points.
