On 1 April 2025, AUDA-NEPAD announced the signing of an agreement to establish a National Office in Brazzaville with the Government of the Republic of Congo, represented by His Excellency Guy Nestor Itoua, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This historic agreement marks a significant step forward in AUDA-NEPAD’s mission to expand presence at the national level, enhance technical support and accelerate development across African Union (AU) Member States.
As part of the AUDA-NEPAD Footprint Structure initiative, the National Office in Brazzaville will serve as a vital hub for embedding AUDA-NEPAD’s expertise within the national government. The initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of AU Member States to implement priority projects in sectors such as health, infrastructure, agriculture, and industrialisation.
Commenting on this milestone, AUDA-NEPAD CEO Nardos Bekele-Thomas stated, “This Agreement marks a pivotal moment for AUDA-NEPAD and our collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Congo. The establishment of a National Office in Brazzaville reinforces our commitment to providing tailored technical support to our Member States. It is a testament to our shared vision of advancing sustainable development, empowering communities, and accelerating growth across Africa.”
The Republic of Congo is one of 48 Member States that have been sensitised and trained on the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan (STYIP) of Agenda 2063, as well as the necessary Domestication Tools for national adaptation. AUDA-NEPAD looks forward to Congo’s meaningful participation in scaling up development programmes, leveraging these tools to advance impactful change and Africa’s collective progress.
Through this agreement, AUDA-NEPAD reaffirms its commitment to working collaboratively with AU Member States to foster sustainable development, improve public health, and empower communities and youth across Africa. The establishment of the National Office in Congo Brazzaville is a key milestone in strengthening AUDA-NEPAD’s presence and impact at the national level.
